Here is a set of original Kluson Deluxe Tuning Machines from a Pre-CBS 1964 Fender Stratocaster.  From 1958 to 1964 Fender used Kluson brand tuners with “Deluxe" stamped in the outside tuner casing in a single vertical line.  The bottom side of the tuner is stamped "PAT NUMBER" (as Kluson was granted a patent, and the "D-189400" patent number is only seen if the tuner is removed from the peghead).  The tuner buttons on the hi-end instruments (e.g. Teles, Strats and Jazzmasters) were metal, while buttons on the entry and student models (e.g. DuoSonics, MusicMasters, Mustangs and other low-end models) had white plastic tips.

The set of 6 includes the press-fit shaft bushings and 7 mounting screws.  There is moderate surface rust on the tuner casings; the worm gear (button) shaft on the High ‘E” tuner is very slightly bent (see detail photos).  Considering this guitar was stored in a case for 40 years and not played, these machines are quite presentable...as well as completely functional.  Although not shown, the tuners will be shipped with clean-release tape attached and marked with a number identifying the string position of each, i.e. 1 through 6 (high to low) as they were mounted on the guitar.  (The reference source for the specs and dates given here: http://home.provide.net/~cfh/fender.html).
