Fender Stratocaster

FENDER STRAT NECK  RARE MADE IN KOREA  NICE RETRO OFF WHITE

  Here is a kind of hard to find early 1990's issue Fender Stratocaster made in Korea with the FENDER label. You can see where the words "Squier Series" were scraped off the ball of the head and the phrase "Made in Korea"  removed. According to the information I can find, the Korean manufacturers were a bit indignant about having the Squier label on their guitars while the Japanese plant got to use the Fender label. This resulted in a bit of a competition and when the Korean plant was able to equal or outdo the Japanese plant in quality, they were allowed to use the Fender logo rather than the Squier logo with the small Squier Series logo on the ball of the head. All Korean made Fenders from this time period have this small decal but as you can see the main decal reads Fender Stratocaster and that is what it is. If it was meant to be a Squier the main decal would be that, this is just how Fender decided to market the Korean produced line. In this case someone removed that decal. My understanding is that they are difficult to find. The bridge is stamped with fender.  It has the cheaper tuners that you would generally find on the Squier guitars of the time rather than the nicer ones found on the Mexican or American made ones. Usually Fenders are difficult for me to get my hand around but this one was easy and this is also the information I have gathered - that there was something particularly different about the Korean Fender Stratocaster necksthat made them easier to play. I cannot tell you exactly what that is. I only play a few chords myself but it it definitely easier to play that  other Fender Stratocasters I have tried to play that are made in Mexico or in the US. There are several paint/finish dings on the body. I tried to photograph them and marked them. The guitar is in good played condition. It has definitely seen some use.

That's about all I can tell you about the guitar. It does include a tremelo bar.
