Fender Stratocaster

You are bidding on an 1997 Fender American Standard Stratocaster with the rare "hardtail" bridge.  Fender is not currently offering an American-made hardtail Stratocaster.  This guitar has an alder body finished in lustrous gloss black and maple neck & fingerboard.  The original white pickguard has been replaced by a Fender-branded "black pearl" pickguard, and the pickups have been replaced with a DiMarzio "Virtual Vintage Blues" (neck), DiMarzio "Virtual Vintage" (middle), and a Seymour Duncan "JB Jr." in the bridge.  This combination enables the guitar to produce classic Stratocaster tones on the neck and middle pickups, but without the hum and buzz problems associated with traditional single-coil pickups.  The "Virtual Vintage" pickups have the classic "glassy" Fender sound, and also produce the traditional "cluck" in the in-between positions (2 and 4) on the 5-way switch.  The Seymour Duncan "JB Jr." bridge pickup is a powerful humbucking pickup in a single-coil sized package, and produces thick rock and roll tones with lots of ringing harmonics.  It's a great match for an overdriven tube amp.  The neck shape is Fender's modern C-shape, medium in width and thickness, and comfortable for just about everyone.  The through-the-body stringing of the hardtail bridge contributes to unusually long sustain for a Stratocaster and the guitar stays in tune extremely well, due to the hard maple neck and non-vibrato bridge.

This
guitar has spent 99.9% of its life in my non-smoking, climate- and
humidity-controlled home studio, and has been gigged exactly twice (and it did fine both times!)  It is used
and shows some extremely minor play wear, but has no significant
cosmetic flaws and no buckle rash or any other noticeable nicks, dings,
or scratches.  Overall, I'd say it's in 9.9/10 condition.  The original Fender molded hardshell case (also in excellent
condition) is included.
