THE BODY: This is a 1996 Fender MIJ 50th Anniversary Deluxe Telecaster HONEY BURST FOTO FLAME finish on a Alder body. (These Deluxe Teles were only made between late 1995 through early 1997.) They are modeled after the 62 reissue Tele, have the exact same neck with an unbound, beveled body like a Strat with Strat type wiring. Since these Teles have 3 pickups like a Strat they use a Strat style 5-way switch, but, unlike a Strat, they have a Tele bridge with the strings going through the body. This type of setup can give you a lot of tone options. The bridge route is just like a 62 Telecaster reissue and the Strat routes are like the 62 Strats, and this configuration was very popular on the Telecaster Plus series as well.

These Teles are not to be confused with the Nashville models. 

This is a nice body for a custom build. I have placed USA and MIJ necks on these so you could use many aftermarket necks on this as well. These are getting harder to find. I have owned and customized around 55 of these over the years.

The Condition: This was a very clean body until it got bumped on the top front edge. It left a good-sized chip in the finish. Other than that, it pretty clean and there are no finish cracks on the body, which is very common for these. The top is cool looking and for building a player guitar, it would be perfect. The pickup arrangements you could use is very versatile.

This body weighs 4 lbs 7 ozs.

These MIJ Teles and Strats are becoming more of a collector’s item due to their high quality. Some argue on forums about which is best, the USA or the MIJ Fenders of this vintage. I have both in my collection and this MIJ Tele is just a nice as any high end USA model I have played. It is important to note that these Fender guitars came from the Japanese Fugi Gen Gakki factory that is making the $2,000.00 Ibanez guitars. SO PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS IS NOT A CHEAPY SQUIRE body! Fender’s USA Custom Shop produced about 100 of this same design around 1996.
